Flaky Juniper – Juniperus squamata

Flaky juniper is a compact conifer with blue-green evergreen needles and a distinctive texture.

Its low, spreading branches form an irregular mound, giving it a natural outline that remains attractive through winter.

Use in a sunny rock garden, gravel planting or low-maintenance border.

Give the plant enough space and light to show its natural form.

Give it a sunny position with sharp drainage; avoid persistently wet winter soil. Water until established; afterwards, water only in extended dry spells. Apply mature compost or a slow-release evergreen fertiliser once in spring if soil is poor. Trim lightly only where shaping is needed.
