Fine branches form an upright canopy that opens with age; the leaf display changes through the seasons before the tree reveals its winter outline.

How to care

Plant in humus-rich, well-drained soil in a sheltered place away from strong drying wind and hot afternoon sun. Keep the soil evenly moist during establishment and water again whenever the upper soil dries. Top-dress with mature compost once a year in spring, keeping it clear of the stems. Prune minimally, removing damaged or awkward branches only when necessary.
